Over this Memorial Day weekend, Craig and I decided to take the kids to SeaWorld. Yay. I have only been to San Antonio a few times, since we have a call center there for my work, but I have never been as a tourist. Folks. San Antonio is a blast. We left on Friday, around 9:30 am. We stopped for lunch at this local restaurant in some little town called the Czech Stop, and they had the best kolaches I have ever eaten. Around 1pm, we were in Austin, so we stopped and took a tour of the State Capital. It looks a lot like the capital in Indianapolis. It was very regal, and just reeked of history.
Around 3pm, we were in San Antonio. We stayed at the Drury Inn, and it was very nice. They had free Continental Breakfasts and Dinners, so we unpacked our things, walked around and then ate dinner there. After that, we headed to the Riverwalk. Craig lived in San Anton for a few years, so he really knew his way around. I must say that the Riverwalk is so beautiful. It is not stroller friendly, so I packed the little guy in my baby carrier, and off we went. We took a boat ride, in which Garrett did NOT like one bit, and just took in the sights and sounds. We went back the hotel and went to bed early so that we could be a SeaWorld at the crack of dawn.
We got up Saturday, ate breakfast, and were at the park before it opened. From 9-12, it was great. No crowds, and it was not too hot. After noon though, it got to be 100 degrees, so we headed for some of the things inside. We got to see the Killer Whale show and it was very impressive. Those whales have such a good life. They have to roll over a few times, and they get fed all the fish they can eat. Seeing Shamu really was as good as I thought it would be. We also saw some Dolphin shows, saw the Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales, and Sidney and Craig rode a roller coaster twice. She really liked that. We left around 3 and went swimming in the hotel pool. It was really nice. I put Garrett in a swim diaper and his little bathing suit, and he went swimming too. He really like splashing the water. Now Sidney is in the long and tedious process of learning how to swim, but she enjoyed the water too. We did not do anything else Saturday night because we were exhausted.
On Sunday, we took a tour of the Alamo, and went and ate lunch at the Riverwalk.
I had to get a margarita just because you cannot go to the Riverwalk and NOT get a margarita. After lunch we went to the Guinness World Book of Records museum, a Tomb Raiders 4D Adventure ride, and the Children's museum. I got a lot of good pictures for all. It was really hot on Sunday too, so thankfully all of those things were inside. We got back to the hotel, ordered a pizza, and then went swimming at the pool again. If you ask Sidney what her favorite part of the trip was, she will probably say the pool.
Garrett did sooo good. He did get a little squirmy during some of the shows, but I just carried him around in the baby carrier and he was content. He is such a good little traveler. Sidney did good too. She got some toys from Seaworld and has been playing with those.
I was really impressed with the Drury Inn too. It was a great hotel to stay in. We did not want our vacation to end!!
