Today was just such a great day! I recently joined this new gym, and it has aerobics classes at convenient times for me, and it has a daycare that you can bring your kids to. I went to a kickboxing class this morning, and dropped Sid and Garr off in the daycare room. The room has a huge glass pane running along one length of the hall, so I can literally just walk out of the room and see the kids. It is really nice, and I could tell they were having a good time playing in there. I was a little intimidated in the kickboxing class. The teacher was a very strong looking woman, who had these very large leg muscles, who kept asking us, "Is that all you got????, all the while grunting, and barking into her microphone headset.
Then after Craig came home from an unsuccessful attempt to procure Tom turkey, we went to Gatti Town, which is kind of like Chuckee Cheese, all souped up, but without the mouse. I personally like the buffet and the kids movies. They also have all sorts of games the kids can play, and a carosel, and a viking ship. The kids got balloons. Sidney's was in the shape of a lion, and Garrett got a sword (balloon), and poked everyone that came near him with it. I was really kind of embarrased, because it kind of looked like, well, you know what, but it had three kind of little balls at the base. Then we went outside, and it blew across the parking lot. So Craig went to retrieve it. However, one of the balls popped. So Garrett literally looked like he was holding a very long (you know what), with two balls and handle. But at least he was happy.
Then we walked over to Half Price Books. I was very embarrased walking through the door with my son holding this balloon thingee. Now I don't know why, but even in a bookstore, people are quiet. Are you supposed to be quiet in a bookstore? I am never quite sure. I mean there is no librarian walking around shushing you. Anyways, his balloon waited until after he ran around a few bookshelves and thoroughly annoyed the hell out of some poeple, to make thus very loud POP. Then he cried, very loudly, in the very quiet bookstore.
Now, I always get mortified whenever Garrett is crying loudly in public places. I already knew this was a bad idea, but I don't know why Craig did not. I know it is a bad idea to bring a 16 month old into a bookstore, with books within his grasp. I know he won't be quiet. It took all my strength to yank a few books out of his little grubby paws, so that he would not a) throw it, or b) rip it to shreds. I personally think that 1 year olds, and puppies have a LOT in common. They both break things and rip it to shreds until nothing is left. It is not good enough that whatever it is, is broken. Oh no, it has to be totally broken, never to be glued together again, and sat upon multiple times. Garrett is like the terminator. You can see it in his eyes. He will NOT GIVE UP, until he is satisfied that the item he has in his possession will never retun to life. That is the only analogy I could think of to get my point across.
Our family movie was Marley and Me. It was good. I just love Jennifer Aniston so much, and this movie made me hate Angelina Jolie all over again, for being a home wrecker. We all ate popcorn in our bed. Garrett dumped the popcorn and threw it a Junior, while laughing this little diabolical laugh. I feel so bad for Junior. He is too stupid to run, and just stands there most times and takes the abuse inflicted upon him by the kids. As long as no doggie bones get broken, I don't interfere. I think Junior will eventually believe in self preservation.
