On the 4th of July, our neighbors came over for a cookout, and we all had a good time. The kids were good, except Garrett did not let go of my neck the entire time. I finally had to put him in his crib for a nap. We recently got a new grill for Craig. It is his Father's Day/Birthday gift. We have a natural gas line outside on our patio, so we got a natural gas grill. No more propane. The food tastes kind of different on a gas grill. Not as charbroiled. So we really tested it out on the 4th.
Our church was having a movie night sort of thing, and afterward, they had bounce houses, sno cones, and all sorts of things for the kids to do. You can't have fireworks in our county, but we bought some pop its, and the kids had a great time with those. They first threw them one at a time, then by handfuls. But then they dumped the whole bowl of them over, and stomped on them. The sound was deafening, and Junior was frightfully afraid. I was hoping we would see some fireworks from our house, but no such luck. We heard them though. I might have to have Mom mail me some sparklers next year. I remember 4th of July over at Grandma's house, eating watermelon, and waving sparklers with Jennifer and Jeff. That is my most vivid 4th of July memory. I think I must have been 11 years old. That is just the one that sticks out the most in my mind.
Sidney is taking swimming lessons. I took her out of gymnastics this summer so that we could focus on her swimming. Garrett is not in anything right now. We are just trying to keep him alive. He likes to jump off things, and bonk his head. He has learned to cross his eyes, and he will stand in front of me, and wait until I laugh, and then he will laugh too. It is sooo precious. I am quite smitten with my little boy. He is so much fun. But I do thank God that 8:30 rolls around and I can put him in bed. I think that boy has a secret compartment that has batteries in it. He just keeps going and going........
Sidney has her birthday party this weekend, and I am doing a Hawaiian theme. We are having it at this place called "Paint -N- Party". It should be fun. I have 5 confirmed reservations so far, which is good, in my opinion. Last year, at the last minute, I had about 8 people, in addition to the 5 people that had called early, call to confirm, so a lot could happen between now and Saturday.
